August Minutes
Hi there everyone!
The August meeting was called to order at Mighty Mick's at 7:00 pm by Craig Ponton.
Ttreasures report was made by Lou, we have 3,990.00. Under old business Lou reported on the ride which we had a very poor turnout we only had 17 bikes but
we did make money, I want to thank everyone who attended the ride and helped out Erika, Sandy and Donna and thanks to all who helped push the tickets for the
trailer even thought none of us won it , Rick H, sold the winning ticket. A motion was accepted to donate $500.00 to camp quality and also to C.O.P.S. of
Indiana for $500.00 which goes to the families of fallen officers. At lasts months meeting Vic Gasket brought it up about a corrections officers who was
in a motorcycle accident and now she (Patrice Wilburn) was pretty banged up she received like 112 stitches in her head dislocated shoulder broken knee cap
so a motion was was accepted to give her $100.00.
Dave Lasko who is a member donated $1000.00 to the blue knights to do as we see fit , we wish you well and thank you for such a generous donation and its
appreciated very much.
A few meetings ago Craig brought up the idea of having a benefit plan for our members, past members and for law enforcement officers and families, it was
discussed and a motion was granted. Those of you who were not able to attend tonight's meeting Craig will post it on the website.
At last months meeting Craig brought up briefly about the international, at this point the International will not accept railroad police due to the
fact that their paid by a private corporation and not a govermental agency, they will not take them, even though their is a federal statue that gives
them arrest powers, so at this point Craig will look into and try and get it on the agenda for at next years international.
We do have a new look at our web - site, www.nwin.blueknights.org many thanks to Janet for doing such an awesome job she also created a for sale area,
if you have anything you's like to sell send it to Craig for posting, it will stay on there for 30 days, you can re-submit it after 30 days, so CHECK it out!!!
There's also a few rides coming up Dan advised us about one in Tinley Park Sept 13Th and another one Sept. 26Th at Valpo Harley.
This past Sunday a few of us went for a ride to starve rock which it was a nice ride some of us got wet some got soaked but it was fun if you like
riding in the rain and climbing 500 stairs to look at the view and then ask yourself are you crazy for climbing all these stairs in the rain? but
all in all it was actually fun and the food was pretty good if you don't have a sense of adventure then what do ya have?
Larry Dowty advised us of some information on the Shriner's event that's coming up Sept.17Th,18Th,&19Th&20Th. They are asking for 4 Officers in
uniform to act as inspectors on Friday morning and another 8 to 12 to be judges for skill competitions to be held at the goverment center in Crown Point..
Larry was told that we would do what we could however with it being a Friday it might be hard. Tim Cragin suggested that we invite motor officers from
local Police Departments and offered his assistance in securing some officers, Thanks Tim.
Camp quality ride turned out really nice for the kids there wasn't a whole lot of bikes I believe only 10 or so and about 9 hummers but it was fun for
the kids the, 65 pizzas were good and gone pretty quickly so hopefully we can get more people to attend this event for these kids next year its
worth it when you see the smiles on their faces so keep that thought in mind OK? Nothing else for the good of the order
In attendance were; Myself, Craig, Ken Wilkinson, Lou Pringle, Rick Heinzman, Terry & Janet Daniel, Dan Paredes, Tim Craigin and guest, Don McCarter,
Larry Dowty and guest.
Meeting was adjourned and next meeting will be, September 15, 7:00 p.m. at Mighty Mics, 109th and Randolph, Winfield.
Hope to see a lot of you there. thanks for everyone who attended tonight's meeting.
RIDE WITH PRIDE AND RIDE SAFE!
